The below information is aimed to help you understand the process of getting married and to supply you with answers (ahead of time) to some of the most frequently asked questions.
Idaho Marriage Requirements
(Click HERE for state of Idaho's official website and landing page for marriage requirements)
In the state of Idaho, marriage licenses are issued in-person by County Recorders. Some counties may require that an appointment be made ahead of time. Please note:
It is HIGHLY encouraged to work with a wedding coordinator – if not for the entire wedding planning phase, at least consider a ‘month of’ or ‘day of’ coordinator. Their services are invaluable and worth every penny. Please visit our Preferred Vendor page for companies we have worked with in this capacity before.
To ensure your ceremony runs smoothly, 208 Officiant will attend the rehearsal, provided it does not conflict with another wedding. The rehearsal consists of walking through your ceremony with all members of your bridal party from processional to recessional. If you do not hire an official coordinator, 208 Officiant can lead the rehearsal however an additional fee may be added.
For ceremonies larger than just witnesses, we ask that you include professional audio equipment for officiant use in your venue or with your DJ services. If there is a choice of microphone or lapel mic, a lapel mic is preferred. If you are not having a DJ, and instead having someone run a playlist for you, it's important that they attend the rehearsal with the music to practice before the big day.
While 208 Officiant does have a speaker and mic set that can be used, it is not adequate for large audiences.
For venues with limited parking, 208 Officiant asks that you ensure there is a parking space close to the venue for your officiant to park. If needed, 208 Officiant can provide a "Reserved for Officiant" sign.
If your venue has fees that require the officiant to pay upon arrival, such as park entrance, lift tickets or parking fees, please ensure you advise the minister accordingly so that these fees are added to your package costs in advance.
Weddings taking place more than 30 miles outside of the location of 208 Officiant in Nampa, are subject to fees related to travel distance and time.
Depending on the location, the cost of one nights' accommodations may also be required to ensure the officiant is present for the rehearsal and has plenty of time to arrive before the ceremony begins.
One of the common questions asked is "is it customary to tip my wedding officiant"? 208 Officiant dedicates extensive time and resources curating and personalizing each ceremony. While a gratuity is never expected, offering a gift or gratuity is a wonderful way to show your appreciation for our time and efforts. Additionally, the greatest gift you can give 208 Officiant, is a positive review!
Unless you insist on taking the signed marriage license to the county Recorder office yourself , 208 Officiant will either personally take it to the Recorder's office OR mail it into the Recorder.
You will need a certified copy of your marriage license to change the name on a Driver's License, Social Security Card, Passport, etc. Please note, that updating your passport will require you to mail in the certified copy therefore it is recommended you do this last as the other agencies only need to view it. Additional certified copies can be purchased from the county Recorder.
You are encouraged to check out our Google Review rating. After your ceremony, 208 Officiant kindly requests that you submit a Google Review so that other couples have "real" feedback. Some of those reviews are captured and then featured on the home page of this website.
